DS Division recovers and recycles waste heat generated during business operations to reduce the amount of fuel, particularly LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas), used within the business sites. Currently, we maximize the recovery of waste heat generated from facility cooling water and discharged wastewater water at our Giheung, Hwaseong, and Pyeongtaek sites and use it as a heat source for process water and air conditioning systems. This has the effect of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by decreasing the amount of LNG used as a conventional heat source.
Going forward, DS Division plans to develop technologies to improve waste heat recovery rates and introduce and expand facilities that can replace LNG-based heat sources to minimize direct greenhouse gas emissions at its sites. In addition, DS Division also minimizes the greenhouse gas emission increase by optimizing the semiconductor manufacturing process with reduced equipment test time, improving temperature conditions for additional equipment operation, and applying highly-efficient equipment.
