Troubleshoot the Auto Focus and Auto Keystone features on The Freestyle 2nd Gen
The Freestyle by Samsung comes with two features that provide smooth, clear images when you are viewing content: Auto Focus will adjust projected images, and Auto Keystone will adjust the horizontal and vertical orientation of the screen. If these features do not seem to be working, please follow the guide below. For instance, you may need to clean the projector’s sensors. Keeping the sensors free of dust and other debris will ensure the projector can correct distorted images and uneven screens.
If the Auto Focus and Auto Keystone features are not functioning on The Freestyle, check the following:
Case 1. If the protective lens film is not removed, the Keystone correction may not work or may malfunction. Use the Keystone feature after removing the film. If necessary, gently wipe the lens with a soft cloth. Keep in mind that the lens is sensitive to dust.
Case 2. You can use a cotton swab to carefully remove dust, debris, and foreign materials from the sensors on the top of the device.
Cautions:
- Make sure the Samsung logo is facing down.
- Do not project the light onto another source of light or an obstacle.
- The Keystone feature may be affected by external light, the distance between the projector and wall, and the projection surface.
Note: The following information applies to The Freestyle 2nd Gen model (SP-LFF3CL*) released in 2023.
The following steps can be used to enable or disable your preferred mode when using the Focus and Keystone functions.
Focus Mode
This function adjusts the focus of the projected screen.
Depending on your preference, select Auto or Manual mode in Focus Mode. If set to Auto, the screen will automatically adjust its focus when the device is moved.
Keystone Mode
This function fixes a distorted image on the screen based on the projection angle.
Use the directional buttons on the remote control to fine-tune the screen angle and shape. For Keystone Mode, select Auto or Manual mode. When set to Auto, the distorted image is automatically adjusted when the device is moved.

When Keystone Mode or Focus Mode is set to Auto, the Auto Keystone and Auto Focus functions may exhibit unintended behavior in the following situations. The functions may also reset the values that have been fine-tuned in Auto mode.
• The projector moves slightly.
• There are objects or obstacles between the projector and projection area.
If this occurs, you can disable the settings in the projector’s menu with the following steps:
If you select Off for Auto Focus After Movement or Auto Keystone After Movement, the Auto Focus and Auto Keystone features will not work when the device is moved.
Auto Focus After Movement
Navigate to and select All settings > General & Privacy > Projector settings > Auto Focus After Movement > Off.
Auto Keystone After Movement
Navigate to and select All settings > General & Privacy > Projector settings > Auto Keystone After Movement > Off.
Note: These options are enabled when Focus mode or Keystone mode are set to Auto.
