Update the SmartThings app to the latest version

Missing out on updates is never fun, especially when it comes to SmartThings. That is because updates can install new features, fix annoying bugs, or add more compatible smart devices. And not to mention, a recent update just gave SmartThings a brand-new user interface.
Note: The provided information refers to devices sold in Canada. The available screens and settings may differ for devices sold in other countries. You can visit the SmartThings website to check device compatibility and gather more information.
Update the SmartThings app through SmartThings

On your phone, navigate to and open SmartThings.

Tap Menu, the three horizontal lines, at the bottom of the screen.

Tap the Settings icon (at the top right corner).

Navigate to and tap About SmartThings (at the bottom of the screen).

If an update is available, tap Update and review the on-screen instructions.

Note: The page will say "The latest version is already installed" if an update is not available.
Update the SmartThings app through the Play Store

On your phone, open Play Store.

Tap your profile picture in the top right corner to be taken to your account's settings.

Tap Manage apps & device, and then tap the Manage tab.

Tap Updates available, select SmartThings (if available), and then tap the Update icon.
Note: If the SmartThings app does not appear, it means there is no update available.
