Print anything from your Galaxy phone
We keep everything on our phones these days, but sometimes it’s nice to have a physical copy. Your phone offers multiple ways to print emails, documents, or your favorite photos to share with your friends. Print wirelessly from your phone if you can’t connect to a printer or use Samsung DeX if you’re working on a presentation for school.
Information provided applies to devices sold in Canada. Available screens and settings may vary for smartphones sold in other countries.
Whether you are printing wirelessly or connecting to your printer with a cable, you will need to have the appropriate plugin apps on your phone. Installed plugins will be saved to your device and can be activated using the printing home screen.
Navigate to Settings, and then search for and select Printing. Tap Printing again to see your installed printer services, which can be turned on and off by tapping the switch next to each one. This screen is called the printing home screen.
To install a new printing service, tap Download plugin to open the Google Play store. Select the correct plugin app for the printer you wish to use, and then tap Install.
You can search for nearby printers as well. From the printing home screen, tap Default Print Service, and then tap the switch to turn it on. A list of devices will populate. Add a printer using an IP address by tapping the More options icon (the three vertical dots), and then tapping Add printer.
Use a Wi-Fi connection to print your documents if your printer is in another room or if the printer's cable is buried in a junk drawer somewhere. Before you can print files wirelessly, you need to first install the appropriate plugin app on your phone, which can be done from the printing home screen (see section above).
To begin printing open the email, photo, webpage, or document you’d like to print and then tap the More options icon (the three vertical dots). Tap Print, and then select your desired printer. Choose the number of copies, paper size, and orientation. Tap the Print icon, and then tap OK.
When printing a webpage or certain documents, you may need to tap Share, the Share icon, or Share and export to display the Print option.
If you’re able to easily access the printer you’d like to use in your home or office, you can connect it right to your phone using USB and OTG cables. Make sure you have the correct printing plugin installed on your phone before you begin. First, turn on the printer you’d like to use. Connect the USB cable to the printer, and then connect the other end of the USB cable to the OTG cable. Insert the free end of the OTG cable into your phone and view the plugin notification that appears on your phone’s screen. Tap OK to select the plugin for your printer.
Using your phone, open the email, photo, webpage, or document you’d like to print and then tap the More options icon (the three vertical dots). Tap Print, and then select your desired printer. Choose the number of copies, paper size, and orientation. Tap the Print icon, and then tap OK.
When printing a webpage or certain documents, you may need to tap Share, the Share icon, or Share and export to display the Print option.
If you’re using DeX to read an important spreadsheet, print it out so you can have a copy for reference. First, make sure your printer is linked to your desktop and then install the correct printing plugin on your phone (see section above).
Once you are connected to DeX, open the email, photo, webpage, or document you’d like to print and then tap the More options icon (the three vertical dots). Tap Print, and then select your desired printer. Choose the number of copies, paper size, and orientation. Tap the Print icon, and then tap OK.
When printing a webpage or certain documents, you may need to tap Share, the Share icon, or Share and export to display the Print option.
