Important: If you are using SmartThings Find or Samsung Find to locate a stolen phone or tablet, do not go directly to the location shown on the map. Contact local authorities and allow them to recover the device for you.

If you believe your device was left in a moving vehicle, such as a bus or train, or if it may have been stolen, you can receive frequent updates about its location. The Track location feature sends updates every 15 minutes with the latest location of the device.

1 From the SmartThings Find or Samsung Find website, select your device, then select Track location.
2 Select Start to begin receiving location updates.

5 Samsung Find also lets you receive notifications when your device is found. On the Samsung Find website, select your device, then enable Notify me when it’s found.
6 If your device cannot be located, you may be prompted to enable Emergency mode. Enter your email address in the pop-up, then select Turn on. You will receive an email when the device is located.

One of the biggest concerns when losing your Galaxy phone or tablet is the risk of someone accessing your personal information. For added security, you can remotely lock your device to keep your data safe.

1 From the SmartThings Find or Samsung Find website, select your device, then select Lock.
2 Select Next.
3 Create a four-digit PIN to unlock the device when you recover it. Enter the PIN twice to confirm.

4 Optionally, you can add an emergency contact and a lock screen message to help someone return the device if they find it.
5 When you're ready, select Lock. The device will remain locked until the correct PIN is entered.

Note: This feature is also available for Samsung Galaxy Watch.

If you can’t find your Galaxy phone or tablet and think it may be gone for good, you can perform a remote factory data reset. This will erase all data from the device, ensuring no one can access your personal information.

Important: Before resetting the device, make sure to back up your data so you can restore it later.

1 From the SmartThings Find or Samsung Find website, select your device, then select Erase data.
2 You may be prompted to verify your Samsung account by signing in again.
3 Review the warning message, then select Erase.

4 If your device is later recovered, and you had a Google account registered, Google device protection will activate. You will need to sign in to your Google account before the device can be unlocked.
5 If you’re unable to erase the device remotely, Samsung recommends changing the passwords on any accounts that may have been logged in. Changing your Samsung account password will also sign you out of all devices using that account.
6 If your Galaxy phone or tablet includes an SD card, its data will also be erased during the reset.

Note: This feature is also available for Samsung Galaxy Watch.

Accidentally left your phone somewhere? You can use your Galaxy Watch to help locate it.

1 On your watch, press the Home button, then swipe to and tap Samsung Find.
2 Tap Continue and follow the on-screen prompts to allow the necessary permissions.
3 Select your phone from the list to view its location.
4 Tap the Ring icon to make your phone ring.

Google’s Find My Device is built into Android devices through Google Play Services. To use this feature, you must have a Google account added to your device. With Find My Device, you can set a new password, make your device ring, display a message, lock it, or erase it remotely.

If you added a Google account during the initial setup process, Find My Device is likely turned on by default. However, it’s always a good idea to double-check that the feature is enabled:

1 Open Settings. Then, navigate to and tap Google.
2 Make sure your account is selected at the top, then tap Find My Device.
3 If the feature is turned off, tap the switch next to Use Find My Device to enable it.
Use Find My Device switch highlighted and enabled in Find My Device settings.

Note: Find My Device by Google only works with phones and tablets.
