Has your furry friend left their bed a little worse for wear, or perhaps their cherished blanket has started to smell? Fear not, as most dog beds and pet accessories can be safely washed in your Samsung washing machine and dryer. Regular cleaning not only frees the bed from bacteria and allergens but also ensures your pet enjoys a fresh and neat resting spot.

Note: While the advice in this guide is universally applicable, it has been tailored specifically for our Canadian customers.

Not sure how to start cleaning your dog bed? Follow these essential tips to ensure it stays fresh and hygienic.

  • Ideally, wash your dog bed weekly, or biweekly if your dog uses it less frequently or sheds minimally.
  • To minimize dirt transfer, clean your dog's paws after outdoor play before they hop back into bed. This simple step helps keep mud and grime out of their sleeping area.

  • Always check the care label for the recommended water temperature. While many beds require hot water to eliminate bacteria and allergens effectively, it's best to follow specific guidelines to maintain the bed's integrity.
  • For spot cleaning, apply a stain remover or a dab of mild soap to targeted areas before washing. Use a damp cloth or a soft brush to gently work out the stains.
  • Choose a hypoallergenic, pet-safe detergent to avoid irritating your dog's skin with harsh chemicals. This will keep the bed safe and comfortable for your pet.

Note: Always consult the care instructions on your dog bed, blankets, and other pet items to ensure they are washed properly.

Most dog beds feature a removable cover that should be washed separately in your washing machine. If the cover is non-removable, the entire bed can still be safely cleaned in your machine. Follow these steps to effectively wash your puppy’s bedding:

1 Remove and pre-clean: If the bed has a removable cover, take it off first. Vacuum as much hair, dust, and dirt as possible from both the cover and bed using upholstery attachments.
2 Wash separately: Place the cover (if applicable) and the bed into the washing machine, ensuring they are washed separately from other household laundry.
3 Include other items: If space allows, consider adding your dog’s blanket, cushions, or soft toys to the wash, checking care labels beforehand.
4 Select the right cycle: Start the wash using the Bedding, Allergen, or Normal cycle, depending on your machine’s settings. For model-specific instructions, refer to your washer's user manual.

5 Drying: Once washed, air dry the items outside or use the Air Fluff cycle in your dryer. Always check your dryer’s lint filter afterwards to remove accumulated dog hair.

6 Deodorize: If there's still a lingering odor, add a small amount of white vinegar to another wash cycle. This method also helps in maintaining your washing machine and dryer for subsequent household laundry loads.
