How to access Samsung News

To access Samsung News, simply swipe right on your device’s Home screen or tap the preloaded Samsung News app.

Keep in mind that you will need to set Samsung News as your preferred news source on your Home screen, if you haven’t already. To do so, touch and hold the Home screen, then swipe right, and then tap Samsung News to set it as your news source. If this is not set, then Google Discover may appear instead.

Note: If you have updated the Samsung Free app to version 6.0.1 or later, you can enjoy the full features of Samsung News.

What is the difference between Samsung News and Samsung Free?

We are excited to introduce a new and enhanced experience with Samsung News. It combines the Read and Listen tabs from Samsung Free, providing users with a more focused and immersive news content experience on their phones. To access Samsung News, users need to update the Samsung Free app to version 6.0.1 or later.

Please note that the Watch and Play tabs will no longer be available in Samsung News. However, if users still want to enjoy these features, they can visit the Galaxy Store and download the Samsung TV Plus and Game Launcher apps.

Does Samsung News require a subscription fee?

Currently, users can access a wide range of news and podcast content on Samsung News for free, without any subscription fees.

Does a user need to create a Samsung account to access Samsung News?

No, creating a Samsung account is not necessary to access Samsung News. Users can enjoy the service without the need for a Samsung account.

In which countries is Samsung News available?

Samsung News is currently available in the United States and Canada. To access Samsung News, users in these countries can update Samsung Free to Samsung News by inserting a SIM card from the United States or Canada into their Galaxy devices. It's important to note that users with a SIM card from another country will not be able to update Samsung Free or access Samsung News.

Does Samsung News feature local news?

Samsung News offers local news recommendations based on the user's proximity to supported cities. With over 40 local cities currently supported, users can stay informed about the latest news from their area. More cities will be added in the future to enhance the local news coverage in Samsung News.

How can users set the city for weather information in Samsung News?

The weather information in Samsung News is based on the Favourite location set in Samsung Weather. If users wish to change the weather information, they can update it in Samsung Weather by selecting a different city as their preferred location.

How do the Daily Briefings work?

The Daily Briefings are published twice a day, once in the morning (7 am to 10 am) and once in the afternoon (5 pm to 9 pm) every day (subject to change). If users have enabled notifications, they will receive updates through push notifications to stay informed about the latest news.

Is Samsung News limited to news podcasts only?

While the News tab primarily offers news-related podcasts, the Podcasts tab offers a wide range of genres to explore, including comedy, True Crime, and Society & Culture, in addition to news podcasts.

How does Samsung News change when users follow specific categories and publishers?

When users follow a specific source, the category and publishers associated with that source receive a higher exposure percentage compared to others. If users refresh or revisit this source, the feed order will be adjusted and those categories and publishers will be displayed first.

Can users hide articles from publications they don't want to see?

Yes, users can hide specific publishers in Samsung News. Users have the flexibility to hide publications they don't wish to see and can modify this setting at any time according to their preferences.
