Note: The availability of features may vary depending on the manufacturer's policy for each device. Keep in mind that devices lacking support for the "routine" feature will not be displayed on the list of controllable devices.

Set up a Routine

Looking to have your TV automatically turn on as soon as you arrive home after a long day? With the “routine” feature, you can empower your devices to perform various actions based on specific triggers. Customize your SmartThings setup to make your devices seamlessly integrate and enhance your daily routine.

1 On your phone, navigate to and open the SmartThings app and make sure the Favourite tab is selected (at the bottom of the screen).
2 Tap the Home icon and select the location of the device you want to create a routine.
3 Tap the Add icon (the plus sign), and then tap Create routine.

4 Tap + under "If" to set your desired conditions for the routine, such as the time it will trigger. Another example would be adding a device, like a motion sensor; you can make the routine trigger when the sensor detects motion. After tapping +, follow the on-screen instructions for your chosen condition.

Note: If desired, you can add an additional condition by tapping + under "If" again.

5 Tap + under "Then" to add an action to the routine. For example, you can choose a smart light bulb and then make it turn on at a designated time or when a motion sensor detects movement. If needed, you can assign an offline device to a routine. If the device says (Offline) next to it, you can still select it and then choose your desired action.

Note: If desired, you can add an additional action by tapping + under "Then" again.

6 Read the on-screen instructions to finish the setup, and then tap Save.
7 Assign a name to the routine, and then tap OK. When the conditions are met, the device will automatically perform that action!

Note: If you set a routine to only run once, it will disappear after it has been triggered.
