Note: The available menu options, modes, and settings may vary depending on the specific device, service provider, and software version in use.

If the Samsung appliance registration process stops at 44 percent (or lower), please follow these steps:

  • Check the distance between your appliance and the router: Ensure that there are at least three Wi-Fi signal bars displayed on your appliance for adequate signal strength. If the appliance supports Smart Control in AP mode, stand next to the appliance with your phone to check the Wi-Fi strength. If the appliance is too far from the router, consider installing an additional router or a repeater to extend the coverage area in your home.
  • Follow the appliance instructions for network connections: Make sure to carefully follow the instructions provided by the appliance manufacturer for setting up the network connections. This may involve selecting certain options on both the appliance and your phone's display or panel.
  • Turn off mobile data on your phone: Disable the mobile data connection on your phone to avoid any potential conflicts with the Wi-Fi connection. Access your phone's Settings, tap Connections, then Data Usage, and toggle off the switch next to Mobile data.
  • Disconnect from the current network if necessary: In case you need to disconnect from the current Wi-Fi network, go to Settings, tap Connections, then Wi-Fi. If your phone is already connected to a network, tap on the Settings icon next to the network name and select Forget. Then, choose the name of your router from the Available networks list, enter the Wi-Fi password if required, and tap Connect.
  • Connect to the Wi-Fi network using a 2.4 GHz connection: It is recommended to connect your phone to the Wi-Fi network using a 2.4 GHz connection, except for TVs or family hub refrigerators. Using a 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection may cause issues with connecting to appliances. If your router is configured to use only 5 GHz, you may need to configure it to support both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies. Consult your router's user manual or contact your internet service provider for assistance.
  • Ensure the router name doesn't contain special characters: The router name should consist only of symbols and alphanumeric characters. Using special characters in the router name may cause connection errors. If your router name includes special characters, it is recommended to rename it.
  • Check the configuration of your Wi-Fi router: Open the Settings on your phone, navigate to Connections, then Wi-Fi. Tap the More options icon (three vertical dots), select Advanced settings, and then Manage networks. Tap on the network name your phone is connected to. If a WPA2 method with EAP authentication is being used, you may need to change the authentication method on your Wi-Fi router and reconnect the device. Refer to your router's user manual or contact your internet service provider to update the router firmware to the latest version. If there is a firewall enabled, try disabling it before attempting to register the appliance again.
  • Disconnect and reconnect the power to the appliance: The process may vary depending on the appliance, but you can generally switch off the power using the appliance's power button. If access to the power cord is possible, you can unplug it as well. Wait for about 30 seconds, plug in the power cord again, and switch on the appliance.
  • Close and reopen the SmartThings app: Close the SmartThings app on your phone by accessing the Recents menu and swiping up, down, left, or right on the app. Then, reopen the app to start fresh.
  • Connect the appliance to SmartThings again: Open the SmartThings app, navigate to the Devices tab, and tap the Add icon (+). Choose the appropriate method to find your device, such as scanning a QR code, scanning for nearby devices, selecting by device type, or selecting by brand. Select a location and room for the appliance, and follow the on-screen instructions to enable the AP mode specific to your appliance.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve any issues you encounter when connecting or controlling devices in the SmartThings app.

If the Samsung appliance registration process stops at 99 percent (or lower), please follow these steps:

  • Check if the display on the appliance shows the Wi-Fi icon or AP mode: If it shows the Wi-Fi icon, enable the Easy Connect function by opening the Settings on the appliance display and tapping on Easy Connect > Connect. If your appliance has the Smart Control function, press and hold the Smart Control button until "AP" displays on the panel.
  • Verify the Wi-Fi network strength on your phone: Open the Settings on your phone, navigate to Connections, and select Wi-Fi. Ensure that the Wi-Fi strength for the network your phone is connected to displays three or more Wi-Fi signal bars.
  • Assess the network distance between your appliance and the router: If the Wi-Fi icon is displayed on your appliance, ensure that there are three or more Wi-Fi signal bars. For appliances using the Smart Control function (AP mode), stand next to the appliance with your phone to check the Wi-Fi strength for the network.
  • If the appliance is too far from the router, the network connection may be unstable: Consider installing an additional router or repeater to extend the coverage area in your home. Keep in mind that the signal strength should show three or more Wi-Fi signal bars for successful appliance registration.
  • Contact your internet service provider: If the internet problem persists after following these steps, it is recommended to contact your internet service provider to check your network connection.

Please note that the registration process and troubleshooting steps may vary depending on the specific Samsung appliance model and software version.
