General information

If you're unable to control or see devices that are registered in the SmartThings app, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • Check device connectivity: Ensure that the devices you're trying to control are connected to the same network as your phone or hub. Make sure the devices are powered on and within range of the network. Keep in mind that SmartThings supports both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands for wireless connectivity, but it primarily operates on the 2.4GHz band.
  • Check SmartThings Hub: If you're using a SmartThings Hub, ensure that it is connected to your network and functioning properly. Check the hub's status indicator lights and troubleshoot any connectivity issues specific to the hub.
  • Restart devices: Try restarting both your phone and the devices you're trying to control. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
  • Check SmartThings app permissions: Verify that the SmartThings app has the necessary permissions to access and control your devices. Go to your phone's settings, find the app permissions section, and make sure the SmartThings app has permission to access location, storage, and other relevant settings.
  • Update firmware: Ensure that your devices and the SmartThings app have the latest firmware versions installed. Check for any available updates for both the app and the devices themselves.

If you continue to experience issues, it's recommended to reach out to SmartThings support or the device manufacturer for further assistance. They can provide specific troubleshooting steps or insights tailored to your device and setup.
