It can be frustrating when your TV is connected to SmartThings but doesn't stay online when you turn it off. By following these instructions, you can ensure a seamless and consistent connection between your Samsung TV and SmartThings, allowing you to fully enjoy the benefits of smart home integration.

If you are unable to turn on your TV using the SmartThings app, please check the following:

  • Compatibility

Please note that certain TV models are not supported for turning on/off from the SmartThings app. This includes 2017 model year Smart TVs (model M5500 and later) and 2018 model year Smart TVs (up to model N5500).

  • Enable "Turn on from mobile device" setting

Ensure that the "Turn on from mobile device" option is enabled in your TV's settings menu (if this option is available on your TV).

Here's how to access it: Go to TV Settings > General > Network > Expert Settings. Look for the "Turn on from mobile device" setting and make sure it is enabled.

  • TV connection reset

If SmartThings has not been used for the past 28 days, the TV connections may be reset. To re-establish the connection, follow these steps:

Step 1. Open the SmartThings app on your mobile phone.

Step 2. Enter the TV plugin or device settings.

Step 3. If you see a pop-up message stating that the server connection has been disconnected, tap OK and proceed to turn your TV off and on. Then, tap OK to reconnect.

By checking these factors and making the necessary adjustments, you should be able to turn on your TV using the SmartThings app. If you continue to experience issues, please consult your TV's user manual or contact our customer support for further assistance.
