How to fix disconnection issues between your TV and the SmartThings app

Check the wireless network status

To ensure a smooth data reception and avoid temporary interruptions when loading the SmartThings app, it is recommended to check the status of your wireless network. If your router and TV are far apart, the communication may not be seamless, which can result in registration failures.

Step 1. Tap Settings.

Step 3. Tap Wi-Fi.

Step 4. Make sure the device is connected to your Wi-Fi network. If not, select the network and enter the associated password.

Note: If there are already 10 devices connected to the router, you may experience registration failure.

Check for software updates

Ensure that your smartphone's software and the SmartThings app are up-to-date, and in case they are not, update them. Additionally, update the firmware of your TV if required.

Note: The SmartThings app is compatible with phones running Android 8.0 or higher, and iOS 12.0 or higher.

Step 1. Open SmartThings and tap Menu, at the bottom of the screen.

Step 2. Tap the SmartThings Settings icon.

Step 3. Navigate to and tap About SmartThings.

Step 4. If an update is available, tap Update.

Note: If the Update button is not available, it means that your app is already up to date.

1 Press the Home button on the TV remote and navigate to Settings.

Note: On newer Samsung TV models, you will need to select Settings, and then select All Settings.

2 Select Support.
3 Select Software Update.
4 Select Update Now.
