If there’s one thing about the Galaxy Z series that stands out from the crowd, it's the flexible hinge and glass display that allows the phones to remain propped open while you use apps.
The feature — called Flex Mode — allows apps to reorient to fit the screen when the device is partially opened, letting you send messages or browse the web without holding the phone.
It’s no wonder why the Galaxy Z series is the world’s favourite line-up of foldables!
Using Flex Mode
As one of the favourite features on a foldable device, Flex Mode heightens your experience by automatically adjusting apps to fit your folded screen.
Flex Mode Panel in Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3
The Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 devices also feature Flex Mode Panel, a handy control that appears when you open certain apps, so you can quickly adjust the screen’s brightness and control the volume.
1. On your Z Fold3 or Z Flip3, open Settings
2. Go to Advanced features and select Labs
3. Select Flex mode panel
4. Tap the switch next to an app to turn on its
Flex mode panel
Now from your home screen, you can open that app and then fold your device to view the app in Flex Mode. The Flex Mode Panel will appear on the bottom part of the screen; use it to open notifications, take screenshots, adjust the brightness, and adjust the sound.
Do More with Multi Window
Too much to do, too little time? Multitask between several apps at once on your Galaxy Z device with Multi window in Flex mode.
Open the Multi app tray to use apps in split screen or pop-up view, and then leave the phone propped open to check your email or take photos. You can also move the windows around the screen or tap one of the icons at the top to change the opacity, minimise the window, or expand it to fit the whole screen.
To do this:
1. Swipe left from the right side of the screen to open up the Multi App Tray
2. Hold and drag an app to the top of the screen to open it in the split screen view, or drag the app to the centre to open it in the popup view. When using popup view, you can open up to five active apps at one time.
Watch a video on YouTube while sending a message to your friend, or browse the internet and look at your photos at the same time — easily use the top and bottom portions of the screen to multitask when in the split screen view.
