How to use S-pen with Galaxy devices

Last Update date : 2025-05-16

A wider range of Galaxy devices is now compatible with the S Pen than ever before. Whether you have a Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy S23 Ultra, Tab S9, Galaxy S25 Ultra, or any previous Note series phone, you can easily draw and write directly on the screen! You can also purchase an S Pen separately if it is not included with your device.

To use the S Pen, gently press the tip to remove it from the device, and the device will vibrate to notify you. You can also activate the pen by hovering it over the screen and quickly double-pressing the button at its end. Keep reading to learn how to make the most of the S Pen with your Galaxy device.

Once you’ve chosen your S Pen and have your new Galaxy phone, all you need to do is pair the pen and start writing or multitasking!

To pair the S Pen Fold Edition, simply take it out of the case and start using it on the screen directly. This edition does not require charging.

To pair the S Pen Pro, first make sure it is fully charged. Check that the mode switch is set to the correct device (such as Galaxy Z Fold). Then press and hold the pairing button for 3 seconds until your phone recognizes the pen. You can then write on the screen or use remote features like Air Actions.

To pair the S Pen for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the pen does not require charging or Bluetooth pairing. Just take it out and start writing or drawing on the screen immediately.

You can jot down notes, translate texts, and preview links using the S Pen. The Air Command menu is a special menu that provides S Pen features and quick access to frequently used apps.
