Samsung Washing Machine Reset Guide
If your washing machine malfunctions, a simple reset might be your first thought. While it can fix minor issues, recurring problems often need more troubleshooting. However, it’s important not to reset immediately when an error occurs. This guide explains how to reset your washing machine, when it’s appropriate, and what to do if the reset doesn’t resolve the issue.
While a traditional reset may not be possible, you can achieve a similar result by power-cycling the washing machine. To do this, unplug the machine or turn off the power at the circuit breaker. Wait 1 to 5 minutes to allow any residual electrical charge to clear, then power it back on. This process acts like a reset for the washer.
A power cycle can sometimes resolve the issue on its own, but more often, it’s just the first step. Further troubleshooting is usually needed to identify and fix the underlying problem. Continue reading for more detailed guidance.
When you encounter an error code on your washing machine, it typically points to an underlying issue. Although resetting the washer can clear the error code temporarily, it won’t fix the root cause of the problem.
For example, an error code like 4E or 4C indicates a water-fill issue, where the machine tries to use hot water even if no hot water line is connected. A reset might clear the code for a short time, but the issue will likely return because the underlying problem hasn't been addressed.
It’s best to complete all troubleshooting steps before resorting to a reset—unless the reset is specifically recommended in the troubleshooting process. If you reset the washer and the error code returns, avoid clearing it again. Resetting will erase the error history, which can make it harder for a technician to diagnose the real issue. In this case, it’s best to contact a professional to properly address the problem.
To fully erase all Wi-Fi and network information from your washing machine, follow the steps below. Please note that this process is only for washers with Wi-Fi functionality.
- Hold the Smart Control button for about 3 seconds until "AP" appears on the display.
- Press and hold the Temp button for approximately 7 seconds until "OK" appears on the screen. The display will then return to showing "AP."
- Turn off the washing machine. When you try to connect devices to the washer again, it will trigger a refresh of the Wi-Fi and network settings.
