FAQ's:

This varies depending on your device. During the transfer process, you'll be given the choice to select which types of content you want to transfer.

While Smart Switch simplifies the transfer of your data, there are limitations on what it can transfer:

  • Most app data will transfer, but secure or encrypted data (such as WhatsApp chats) won't be transferred.

  • Many apps that require login credentials store data on their servers. Ensure you've backed up or saved your data before logging into apps on your new device.

  • Apps not downloaded from the Play Store will need manual downloading.

  • Smart Switch might not transfer login details for certain apps, like mobile banking apps. Make sure you have your login information for any apps you want to use on your new device.

  • The Google Play Store and Apple App Store offer different selections of games and apps. If you're transferring from iOS, Smart Switch will attempt to download Android alternatives to your apps. If there are no Android alternatives available, they won't be transferred.

  • Smart Switch cannot transfer content protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management).

Smart Switch can be used without a Samsung account.

No, the existing data does not disappear. Even after the transfer is completed, the existing data remains on the previous device.

You can transfer data from a device equipped with an SD card to a device that does not support an SD card. When data is transmitted from a device equipped with a SD card to a device not supported with an SD card, Smart Switch automatically recognises the data stored on the SD card, and the corresponding data item is displayed as a list under the title "SD card content". When selected, data stored on the SD card can be sent to the SD card unsupported device in the same way as other data.

The reason why we ask users for permission when using the Smart Switch app is because of the Google™ OS policy. This is because each app’s data requires permissions for the app to backup/restore.

Smart Switch is installed without an app icon. When the app is updated or reinstalled, icons in the Samsung folder or apps are created.
