Sound drops out from the wireless subwoofer

Audio drops from Samsung Subwoofer

The sound on your wireless subwoofer can drop out if there is interference or a physical obstruction between the soundbar and subwoofer. You can try checking the firmware version, resetting, and reconnecting the subwoofer.

  1. Check for a firmware update.

You can check the current firmware version using the soundbar's remote. First, make sure the subwoofer is turned off. Then, press the Sound Control button once (it looks like a gear), and then press and hold the same button for 20-30 seconds. Check the numbers that follow the letter "B" on the soundbar. For example, the firmware version may be "B 1008.0."

You can perform an update using the SmartThings app, or by downloading the file if your soundbar has a USB port.

  2. A speaker test is available on 2020 and later models.

  3. Run a speaker test.

While the subwoofer is turned off, press and hold the right button on the soundbar's remote for more than 10 seconds.

  4. Confirm the subwoofer is in range of the soundbar.

The maximum wireless signal distance between the two devices is about 33 feet. If there is a wall between the soundbar and the subwoofer, it may cause interference or the sound may not work at all, depending on the material in the wall. Finally, if a device that uses the same wireless frequency (2.4Ghz), such as a Wi-Fi router, is near the soundbar, interference may cause some sound interruption.

  5. Check all sources connected to the soundbar.

Make sure the issue is with the subwoofer and not the device you're listening to. For instance, if the sound only drops out when you are watching a Blu-ray, then the issue is with the connections or the Blu-ray player, not the subwoofer.

  6. Reset the power on the subwoofer and try again.

Unplug the power cord for the subwoofer, and then plug it back in. Wait for it to reconnect to the soundbar, and then play music or video content and listen for sound drop outs.

  7. Manually reconnect the wireless subwoofer to the soundbar.

Reconnecting the devices manually will reset the connection.

  8. Request service.

If the sound is still dropping out, visit the  Support Center to request service.
