How Samsung OLED TV displays are protected with Logo Detection and Screen Saver
Check out the guide below to learn about Logo Detection, Screen Saver, and Screen Brightness adjustment features to prevent image retention on your Samsung OLED TV.
Automatically adjust logo brightness with Logo Detection
The Logo Detection function detects images that are continuously located in one place on the Samsung OLED TV screen and automatically reduces the brightness only in that area to prevent image retention. For example, if a fixed area such as a broadcast logo, program name, or news caption lasts for an extended period of time, the brightness of only that area is reduced.
To enable or disable this function, follow the steps below.
Step 1. From your Home Screen, click on Menu > Settings > All Settings.
Step 2. Go to General & Privacy > Panel Care > Adjust Logo Brightness.
Step 3. Select Off / Low (Default) / High.
Protect your screen with Screen Saver
To prevent image retention on the screen, the Samsung OLED TV has the Screen Saver feature enabled by default. Upon pressing any button on the remote control, Screen Saver mode is canceled and returns to the original screen.
If your Samsung OLED TV displays the same still image or does not have an input signal from an external device for 2 minutes, Screen Saver is automatically enabled.
Note: Screen Saver is a default function to protect your Samsung OLED display and cannot be disabled.
To ensure that your pixels last as long as possible, your Samsung OLED TV screen should not display the same still image for an extended period of time. Therefore, your Samsung OLED TV will automatically adjust the brightness to decrease gradually (The brightness may decrease up to 95%.) The brightness will be restored once the content changes, or when the remote control input signal comes back.
Note:
- Due to the nature of OLED, image retention is a common phenomenon that occurs in OLED panel products, especially if the same still image is displayed for a long time.
Note:
- If you are having trouble with your Samsung Smart TV, you should always check to see if there are any software updates available as these may contain a fix for your problem.
- Device screenshots and menus may vary depending on the device model and software version.
