How to use the S22 Ultra S Pen and check its compatibility
The Galaxy S22 Ultra is the first to have a built-in S Pen, so you can easily carry it around and use it whenever you want. There are a lot of fun ways you can use the built-in S Pen to maximise your note-taking experience. Read the guide below to learn more about the Galaxy S22 Ultra's new built-in S Pen.
S22 Ultra has a built-in S Pen for the first time in S series
- Added S Pen to text feature (applied from TabS7/S7+, Z Fold3 as well).
- Handwriting automatically changes to text after writing with S Pen in the input window.
- If the user captures any specific area with S pen, S22 Ultra will extract the text through the AI function and suggest appropriate actions to the user.
S pen embedded to S22 Ultra is dedicated to S22 Ultra and can only be used in 'write only' mode for other models with Wacom panels.
Since it is not compatible with other models, the 'Air Action' function only works with one dedicated model.
Examples of use in S22 Ultra by S Pen coming from another model
- S22 Ultra built-in Pen: Writing and Air Actions possible.
- Note built-in S Pen/Tab built-in S Pen: Writing only.
- Fold 3 Pen: Does not work.
- S Pen Pro:
- When you switch to S Pen: Writing and Air Actions possible.
- When you switch to Z Fold: Writing not possible.
- Maximum supported distance: 10 metres (same as Note20).
